Turkey remains one of the most popular holiday destinations for Ukrainians and Europeans, and the question “when is it better to go — summer or autumn” arises for almost every tourist.
At first glance, the answer seems obvious: summer is the classic holiday season, autumn is the velvet season.
But in practice, things are not so straightforward. The weather, prices, hotel occupancy, and even the holiday atmosphere differ significantly between these periods. “Mandry” has figured out when it is really worth planning a trip to Turkey, and when it is better to wait a little.
Summer in Turkey means guaranteed sunshine, almost a complete absence of rainfall, and high air temperatures. In July and August, at popular resorts such as Antalya, Alanya, and Belek, the temperature easily rises above +35 °C, and sometimes reaches +40 °C. The sea warms up to +27…+29 °C during this time, making swimming as comfortable as possible.
However, such weather is not suitable for everyone. Being outside during the day can be difficult, especially if excursions are planned. Many tourists switch to a “southern routine”: early wake-ups, resting in the shade at noon, and being active closer to the evening. Yet, for lovers of hot climates and a guaranteed tan, this is an ideal option.

Autumn in Turkey is often called the velvet season — and for good reason. In September and October, temperatures stay at +25…+30 °C, and the sea remains warm after the summer heating. It gets cooler in November, but you can still swim in the southern regions.
The main advantage of autumn is comfort. There is no exhausting heat, making excursions, walks, and active holidays much easier to bear.
At the same time, the weather remains stable, especially in September and early October. This makes autumn an ideal time for those who want to combine a beach holiday with exploring the country.
Prices for tours to Turkey strongly depend on the month and the country of departure, but the overall trend is clear: summer is the peak cost, and autumn is a gradual decrease, while the weather remains comfortable for a long time.
If we look at current offers from Kyiv, Warsaw, and Berlin for 2026, the minimum prices for all-inclusive tours for two look like this:
It’s important to understand: minimum prices are usually for budget hotels and short tours. If you are considering comfortable 4–5* hotels for 7–10 nights, the average summer budget will be around $2,250–2,750 for two. In autumn, prices are about 15–30% lower.
It is also worth considering that promotions, last-minute tours, and special offers from tour operators appear more frequently in autumn. This makes September and especially October one of the most favorable periods for a trip: for the same money, you can choose a higher-level hotel or extend your vacation.
A summer holiday in Turkey is a classic. During this period, resorts operate at full capacity: all restaurants, bars, water parks are open, and hotel animation reaches its peak. This is especially important for families with children, as the infrastructure is maximally developed.
Moreover, it is much easier to find direct flights from various cities in Ukraine and Europe in the summer. The frequency of flights increases, providing more flexibility in choosing dates. Turkey becomes accessible literally any day without complex transfers and lengthy planning.
The main disadvantage is the heat. Temperatures above +35 °C are not suitable for everyone; it is especially difficult for the elderly and families with small children. Active excursions become less comfortable, and walking around cities during the day turns into a challenge.
Another factor is high occupancy. Beaches, hotels, and restaurants can be overcrowded. This reduces the feeling of seclusion and makes the holiday more of a “mass” experience. Moreover, you have to pay more for such conditions — prices are at their maximum during the season.
Autumn is a balance between weather, prices, and comfort. The temperature drops, the sea remains warm, and there are noticeably fewer tourists. This is the ideal time for those who want to relax peacefully without crowds and noise.
In addition, autumn opens up additional opportunities for traveling around the country. You can go to Istanbul, Cappadocia, or Ephesus without the risk of overheating. During this period, Turkey reveals itself not only as a beach destination but also as a cultural one.
The main risk is unstable weather towards the end of the season. In October and especially November, rain is possible, and the sea gradually cools down. Also, some hotels and entertainment venues begin to close, especially in less popular regions.
Furthermore, the number of flights decreases, especially from smaller cities. This can affect the cost of tickets and the convenience of the flight.
The choice between summer and autumn depends on the purpose of your trip. If you need a classic beach holiday with guaranteed heat, active animation, and full infrastructure — it is better to go in summer. If comfort, tranquility, and the opportunity to combine relaxation with excursions are important — autumn will be a more successful option.
