8 must-see places in Phuket

Великий Будда Resorts and regions

Arriving in Phuket, you might feel like collapsing onto one of its beautiful beaches, interrupting this blissful idleness only to indulge in fruits and seafood. But there are many amazing places worth exploring if you find yourself on this wonder of an island. Mandry Club shares the most unforgettable ones.

James Bond Island

The island’s original name is Koh Tapu (meaning “nail” in Thai), but tourist guides renamed it after the 1974 James Bond movie was filmed here. The island is best viewed from the water, as it’s not exactly suitable for beach relaxation—it’s essentially a 20-meter-tall column rising from the waters of Phang Nga Bay.

The Big Buddha

The Big Buddha of Phuket is equally appealing to Buddhists and tourists, so it’s always crowded around the statue. The 45-meter-tall seated deity sits atop Nakkerd Hill, towering 400 meters above sea level. Nearby, observation decks offer breathtaking views. The Buddha’s pedestal houses a Buddhism Museum.
