Scandinavia or Northern Europe is a region in Northern Europe that includes the countries of the Scandinavian Peninsula, as well as Finland, Iceland and Denmark.
In Denmark, the official language is Danish, in Sweden – Swedish, in Norway – Norwegian, in Finland – Finnish and Swedish, in Iceland – Icelandic. However, despite the presence of different languages in these countries, in all of them the locals know English well (especially in Sweden, where you can easily communicate in English). Some Danes also have a good command of German. In the northern regions of Norway, Sweden and Finland, Sami languages are widespread and have official status.
All of the above languages, with the exception of Finnish and Sami, belong to the Germanic language group. Finnish and Sami belong to the Ugro-Finnish language group.
