Asian countries

Asia is the largest part of the world, forming the Eurasian continent together with Europe. The area (including islands) is about 43.4 million km². Population – 4.2 billion people (2012) (60.5% of the world’s population). Asia is currently the largest developing region in the world.

There are 48 countries in Asia. China is not only the largest country in Asia by area, but also by population in the world. India confidently ranks second in the world in terms of population and is projected to overtake China in a couple of decades. Indonesia is the fourth most populous country in the world and may reach third place in the next 20-30 years, overtaking the United States.

Japan is a member of the G8 and is now one of the leading countries in the world in financial terms.

Asia’s role in the global economy and politics has grown dramatically in recent years. The economies of China and Japan are now among the largest in the world. India demonstrates rapid growth rates.
