7 best beaches in the world that you should definitely visit

There are thousands of beaches in the world. It is almost impossible to choose the best one objectively, because everyone has their own preferences. Some people like sand, others like pebbles, trendy beach bars and crowds of beautiful people in bikinis, or no civilization within a few kilometers, and only mollusks and shells.

We have studied guidebooks and selected seven beaches that have somehow earned the right to be called the best beaches in the world.

Anse Lazio (Seychelles)

You have to try hard to find an ugly beach in the Seychelles, but Anse Lazio is considered one of the best. It is located in the northwest of Praslin Island, with soft white sand, a picturesque bay formed by huge boulders and dense vegetation, and the beauty of sunsets and sunrises cannot be captured by any Instagram filter. The water is clean and almost transparent, so this place is very popular with divers.

Camps Bay (South Africa)

A luxurious sandy beach is located on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean among majestic mountains. The infrastructure on this wide shore is all right: there are sun loungers and umbrellas for rent, cafes and restaurants of varying degrees of price and equipment rental for water activities. The latter is especially important because the ocean has great waves, and even if you’ve never stood on a board, you’ll probably want to try it. Surfers and picnickers come here all year round. The water in the ocean is quite cold, but for heat-loving tourists, there is a swimming pool carved right into the rocks.

Porto Katsiki (Greece)

Porto Katsiki beach (“Port of Goats” in Greek) on the island of Lefkada is regularly included in the top lists of the most beautiful beaches in the country and Europe. Once upon a time, only shepherds wandered into these lands to look for goats that had strayed from the herd, and today it is one of the most attractive places for tourists in Greece. This beach is loved for its clean sandy shore and postcard views of the white limestone cliffs that frame the bay. So despite its small size, there are always quite a few people here, especially in season.

Fig Tree (Cyprus)

This beach in the Cypriot resort of Protaras is a regular among the twenty best beaches in the world. There used to be a fig grove here, but today only one tree remains, but it has a Blue Flag. Yellow sand and shallow sea make this place ideal for families with children. There are always quite a few vacationers, and for those who like solitude there are many small bays. There is all the infrastructure here, including free Wi-Fi and facilities for tourists with disabilities. Special attention should be paid to coastal restaurants with excellent Mediterranean cuisine and underwater caves that you can see if you get tired of lying down.

Côte de Basque (France)

Not far from the Spanish border is a favorite beach for French and Spanish surfers. The wide sandy coastline of the Bay of Biscay attracts, first of all, lovers of catching a wave: there are stormy currents, thanks to which this place became the capital of European surfing in the 50s. On those days when the waves are especially high, swimming is not very convenient and safe, but you can enjoy the views of rocky landscapes, the Pyrenees in the distance and beautiful extreme surfers. Surfers come here all year round, and in the summer, a festival and surfing competitions are held on the Cote de Basque beach.

Sunset (Hawaii)

The beaches of Hawaii often appear in movies and video clips as a picture of a beautiful and carefree life. However, they are exactly like that in real life: Sun, ocean, ice-cold cocktails and surfers. Sunset Beach is located on one of the most developed islands in terms of infrastructure – Oahu. It is relatively small – only about 3 km long, but there are always a lot of vacationers here. Locals and tourists alike love this beach for its fine white sand and extraordinary water beauty: depending on the time of day, it changes color from sky blue to bright red. You can swim here all year round, but the best waves are in winter, when the beach is occupied by surfers, and the rest of the time you can swim in peace.

Banana (Thailand)

This beach in Phuket with a “sweet” name is also called the “hidden beach”. Once upon a time, it was really hidden in the shade of coconut trees and was not accessible to most tourists, but today the road here is well-trodden. The views and the cleanest water are magnificent, and that’s why both locals and tourists come here. The infrastructure is poor, but this is more of a plus than a minus: the pristine beauty of these places has been preserved. Amenities include renting sunbeds and umbrellas and snorkeling equipment. There are no cheap eateries, which abound in popular Thai resorts, but there is a very nice restaurant right on the beach that serves excellent seafood.
