Every year, several million tourists decide to spend their vacations on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus. They are attracted by the mild climate, clean Blue Flag beaches, and warm sea.
Party town Ayia Napa is the most popular city. Mostly young people come here to have fun, go to bars and clubs. The resort is rightly called the local Ibiza: discos open every night right on the beach, where dancing continues until the morning. But there is also something to see during the day, the city has many historical and cultural attractions, such as an ancient monastery or the modern Thalassa Sea Museum.
The nature of Ayia Napa is also beautiful: well-maintained shores with fine golden sand, clean, clear water, and fresh air. However, in high season the beaches can be crowded.
The resort is also suitable for families with children, with an aqua park and a luna park, as well as numerous children’s clubs and playgrounds.
Limassol, the largest city on the coast, is considered a universal resort. Bars, clubs and discos attract young people, amusement parks, water parks and other “children’s” entertainment attract families with kids, and decent hotel service and many attractions, including ancient ones, attract older tourists. Limassol’s beaches are mostly sandy, many of them covered with black volcanic sand.
It is the only resort on the island that does not stop working even in the winter season: restaurants and hotels continue to operate, and the flow of tourists, although weakening, does not stop.
There are not many attractions here, but among them is the most important shrine of the Cypriots – the Church of St. Lazarus, where the relics of the saint are kept. On the outskirts of the city is the Lucky Star amusement park, which is definitely worth a visit with children.
Vacationers are a wealthy crowd. People spend time in luxurious restaurants and hotels, visit sights, most of which are under UNESCO protection, and the most famous – the Bath of Aphrodite – attracts tourists from other resorts.
The sandy and rocky beaches are very picturesque, framed by rocks, but do not always have a convenient entrance to the water.
Quiet beach Protaras is an ideal place for families with children: cozy clean beaches, calm sea with a gentle entrance, stunning air and a large oceanarium right in the center! There are practically no historical sights in the area of this resort, but there are many beautiful places.
Both elderly travelers and young couples come to the resort. In addition, lovers of outdoor activities, especially hiking, spend their vacations in Polis, as the famous Akamas Nature Reserve is located nearby.
Kyrenia is considered the best place for a beach vacation in the Turkish part of the island: white sand, blue sky, and a small cozy city surrounded by flowers. There is a picturesque harbor, St. Hilarion Castle, the Gothic Bellapais Abbey and the Museum of the Ancient Ship. Kyrenia is suitable for families with children and elderly travelers, although there is plenty of entertainment for young people. The city is called Girne in Turkish.
The resort of Morphou, or Güzelgürt, is located in the northwestern part of the island in a secluded bay. Due to the fact that the city is surrounded by citrus groves, it is nicknamed the orange capital of Cyprus. This place is suitable for those who like a relaxing vacation and love ancient sights, there are many of them here: the excavations of the city of Salt, the ruins of the Vuna Palace, etc.
