Disneyland Paris

Disneyland Paris – (Paris, France) – detailed description, address, and photos. Reviews of tourists about the best entertainment in Paris.

The words “We’re going to Disneyland!” cause a storm of positive emotions in both children and adults. For more than a quarter of a century, a branch of the American entertainment complex named after Walt Disney has been operating 32 km east of Paris. Occupying the entire area of a perfectly flat ring with a 3-kilometer diameter, described by the boulevards of Grand Fosse and D’Hurope, it consists of two parks – Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park (4 thematic zones in each), 7 hotels right on the territory, 8 in the suburbs, as well as a mini-town of Disney Village with restaurants, cafes and shops. In the very center of the ring, there is its own railway station, which takes about 40 minutes to reach from the center of Paris.

To enter the parks, you need to buy either separate tickets (they cost the same) or a general ticket to both parks, which will be more expensive than a ticket to either one by only 20 EUR. So most guests take the latter.

Parks and attractions

Disneyland Park

Disneyland Park is the original Disneyland Paris, one might say, and it was the place where Disneyland Paris began. In the center is the obligatory Sleeping Beauty Castle, the outlines of which are familiar to anyone who has seen at least one Disney movie, and in general, this park is more decorative, “toy”, more focused on younger children. There are a lot of children’s rides and playgrounds. But there is also something “adult” and extreme.

First of all, this is Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain with one dead loop and one full spiral, which used to be the coolest ride in all of Disneyland, called “from a cannon to the moon.” But then, “as you know,” Disney bought the rights to Star Wars, and all the Julienne themes in the park were radically pushed in favor of space stormtroopers, rebels, and other R2D2s. Many believe that the change of image did not do the slide any good and that the previous stylization of the flight to the moon and back among colorful comets and planets was better.

Standing in line for this attraction, you can entertain yourself by looking for the remnants of the former fanciful steampunk decor, now and then peeking out from under the star-wars scenery.

Hyperspace Mountain is located in the Discoveryland themed sector dedicated to Star Wars and space travel (for example, there is also an updated Star Tours ride with 3D effects, remade from the Jules Verne Nautilus).

Children will especially enjoy the wonderful Fantasyland: there they will visit Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs, find themselves together with Alice in the Wonderland labyrinth, go on a trip around the world, defeat the dragon and do many more interesting things. There is also a special place for meeting and photo shoots with Mickey Mouse and other classic Disney characters.

Everything in Adventureland is imbued with the spirit of adventure – there is Robinson’s cabin and Jack Sparrow’s pirate ship, and in the Temple of Danger (another rather steep slide) you will have to ride a rickety trolley in the footsteps of Indiana Jones. Younger guests will enjoy the fabulous world of oriental tales about Aladdin.

The Frontierland sector is the world of the Wild West: gold mines, pistol shooting and the main extreme entertainment, the Rattlesnake Mountain ride, a very dashing roller coaster with one dead loop.

In the evening, closer to the closing of the park, an exceptionally spectacular parade of Disney characters takes place along its main road, starting from Sleeping Beauty Castle, with all the most popular characters, fire-breathing dragons and fairy princesses. It is worth noting that during the show, the queues for the attractions are noticeably reduced.

Walt Disney Studios Park

The second theme park of Disneyland Paris is more designed for the audience a little older: the attractions here are newer and cooler, the location is more compact, and less attention is paid to the overall “decor” than in the main park. In general, it is stylized as a huge film set, where you can look into the magical backstage of cinema. Guests of the park can become actors and car racers, ride rides in “toy stories”, watch performances with their favorite Disney cartoons and even learn how to create them themselves. Teenagers and adults will be interested to visit the film set and learn how special effects are made in popular blockbusters.

The coolest local attractions: Tower of Terror – a free fall in the elevator of a cursed hotel, Crush’s Coaster based on the cartoon “Finding Nemo”, Extreme RC Racer races and, of course, the Rock’n’roller Coaster with Aerosmith. It’s worth standing in line for the latter, if only to appreciate how well Steven Tyler’s screams match the frantic spinning in dead loops and spirals.

Fast Pass.

Unlike the Spanish PortAventura, Disneyland Paris does not have a paid “fast pass” that allows you to bypass the main queue. But all visitors can go through a short queue to any of the main attractions for free, coming up within the specified time interval. To do this, you need to use your park ticket in a special machine with the inscription “Fast pass”, located at the entrance to the attraction, get a special ticket and go with it to the “fast” entrance within the specified time interval. It will not be possible to collect “fast passes” for all attractions at once: the ticket will have the time from which the park ticket can be used again in the machines.

What else to see

Dozens of shops and stores in the Disney Village, stylized in antiquity, will give you a lot of emotions and a risk to lighten your wallet. There is everything here – from Disneyland paraphernalia to luxurious palaces with sweets, from cartoon characters to Christmas surprises. The main assortment includes toys and gifts, as well as accessories with park symbols. There are 67 cafes, restaurants, and bars in total. They offer European, American, and exotic cuisines, fast food, fish dishes, snacks, and ice cream.

Disneyland has unusual and fun themed and seasonal holidays, such as Halloween, New Year, and Marvel’s Summer of Superheroes. They will even help you organize your own event, such as a wedding.

Getting there.

From Charles de Gaulle and Orly airports, from the center of Paris and from some hotels by a yellow and red bus with the inscription Magical Shuttle (official website in English / French). You can also take the A line of the RER suburban train (official website of the railway company in English / French) to the Marne-la-Vallée / Chessy station.

The Disneyland Paris Express shuttle bus (official website in French/English) departs from Gare du Nord at 8:20 a.m. with stops near the Opera and Chatelet metro stations.
